It bothers me sometimes when a Japanese person says an English word with a very strong Japanese accent, such as gｅt－ “ゲットする” , “シティバンク”、”マクドナルド”, etc. Do you think Japanese should start pronouncing English words more English like?

yes, this irritates me at my high school quite often haha. Sometimes 英語派 students pretend to speak with a fake “Japlish” accent because they feel embarrassed that they are native English speakers in front of their 日本語派の友達。実は本当の英語の発音できるのに。だが日本語でしゃべっているときはマクドナルドでも大丈夫だと思う. とにかくアメリカ人でもアイルランド人でもMcDonald’sの発音するのは異なっている。

こんにちは。私は、日本語の文章をしゃべっている中に、突然英語発音の単語が出てくると、逆に不自然な気がしてしまいます。日本人の英語学習の上で、カタカナ英語が問題になることもありますが、中国など他の国の学生に比べて、逆にそのカタカナのおかげで、議論になっている概念や内容を察することができたケースが度々ありました。ただ、何事も程度の問題だと思うので、あまりにも安易にすべてをカタカナのままにして、わかったような気で済ませてしまうことがないようにしたいものですね。
